Primary Responsibilities
 

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Process Safety Engineer to support process safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance activities for major industrial and energy projects.

This role will be responsible for identifying process safety risks, supporting safety studies, and ensuring compliance with international engineering standards and client requirements across various stages of project execution. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant process designs.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Energy, or Industrial sectors who are looking to grow within a large-scale engineering and project delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

Process Safety Engineering

  • Perform and support process safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA, FERA, and dispersion analysis
  • Identify process hazards and recommend mitigation measures to reduce operational and safety risks
  • Review process safety philosophies, design basis, and engineering deliverables
  • Support development of safety-related documents including: Fire & Gas Philosophy, Safety Design Philosophy, Emergency Shutdown Philosophy, Hazardous Area Classification, Relief and Flare System Design, Escape, Evacuation & Rescue Studies
  • Participate in process safety reviews and design workshops with internal and external stakeholders

Engineering & Project Support

  • Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Operations teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated into design
  • Review PFDs, P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams, and process calculations from a process safety perspective
  • Support compliance with international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in technical proposal preparation and project documentation
  • Participate in project meetings, client discussions, and technical reviews

Risk & Compliance Management

  • Ensure process safety deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules and quality requirements
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions where required
  • Maintain proper documentation and reporting for process safety activities
  • Promote strong safety culture and engineering best practices across projects

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Process Safety Engineering within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Refining, LNG, or related industries
  • Experience conducting or participating in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, and other process safety studies
  • Familiar with international engineering standards and industry codes including IEC, API, NFPA, OSHA, and CCPS guidelines
  • Understanding of process engineering fundamentals and industrial safety systems
  • Experience with consequence modelling or process safety software will be an advantage
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation systems
  • Candidates with consultancy, EPC, FEED, or detailed engineering project experience will have an advantage
