About the Company

Our client is an established engineering and industrial services company supporting operations within the refinery and petrochemical sector. The organisation undertakes plant modifications, capital expenditure projects and engineering works requiring detailed piping design and drafting support.

As part of its continued project requirements, the company is looking for an experienced Piping Designer with strong plant-based design experience to support piping modifications, layouts and engineering documentation.

About the Role

The Piping Designer will be responsible for carrying out site checks, piping design and drafting for CAPEX projects and plant modification works.

Working under the direction of the reporting Engineer or Manager, you will develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, BOMs and piping support details while ensuring engineering drawings accurately reflect existing site conditions and project requirements.

The role is particularly suited to an experienced piping designer with a strong background in refinery or petrochemical plant environments and hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys and checks to verify existing piping and plant conditions.
  • Design and plan piping routes for CAPEX projects and plant modification works.
  • Prepare detailed piping layout drawings and isometric drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and piping support details.
  • Update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and plot plans based on site conditions and project requirements.
  • Ensure piping drawings accurately reflect current plant configurations.
  • Assist the engineering team with piping design modifications and project documentation.
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings and records within the Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).
  • Maintain project documentation within the Engineering Library.
  • Coordinate with engineers and relevant project stakeholders to ensure design requirements are met.
  • Support the implementation of plant modifications and CAPEX projects through accurate and timely piping documentation.

About the Candidate

  • Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of piping design experience within the refinery or petrochemical industry.
  • Strong hands-on experience in pipe routing and piping modifications.
  • Competent in preparing:
    • Piping layouts
    • Isometric drawings
    • P&IDs
    • Plot plans
    • Bill of Materials
    • Piping support details
    • Materials documentation
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Good understanding of relevant ASME codes, API and ASTM standards.
  • Experience working within operating refinery, petrochemical or process plant environments.
  • Able to conduct accurate site checks and translate site conditions into detailed engineering drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation.
  • Able to work effectively under the direction of engineers and project managers.
  • Workplace Safety & Health in Process Plant (AWSHPP) Certification is required.
  • Strong understanding of plant safety requirements and safe working practices.
