Primary Responsibilities
 
  • The Work Package Owner (WPO) supports the Project Coordinator (PC) and Project Manager for Packaging & Logistics, ensuring the EPCM delivers according to agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and compliance requirements. The WPO focuses on monitoring, coordinating, reviewing, interfacing, and governing EPCM performance rather than performing execution activities.
  • The Project Coordinator acts as an area lead, coordinating EPCM and stakeholders, tracking progress and risks, ensuring design intent adherence, regulatory and AstraZeneca standards compliance, and documentation readiness throughout design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Scope areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Overall Warehouse, including freezers, weighing and dispensing systems, logistics systems (including AGV and material flow), and other peripheral equipment within warehouse or chemical warehouse facilities.

  • The WPO acts as a package lead or area lead within the project, managing committed deliverables with responsibility for the budget and schedule for the assigned scope area.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Coordinator and Project Manager in planning and delivering defined work scopes to meet agreed project schedules and budgets.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule management, and ensuring the work package meets all stage-gate requirements associated with project delivery.
  • Coordinate with project team members and AstraZeneca stakeholders, including SMEs, suppliers, and procurement teams, to define and drive delivery schedules for work packages.
  • Act as a package lead or area lead, serving as the key contact from supplier selection through to operational qualified status.
  • Define, manage, and secure capable resources to support critical studies, including FMEA, RCA, and HAZOPs. Regularly monitor progress and risks, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering, SHE, GMP, and GEP standards and procedures to ensure assets meet business requirements and external regulatory expectations while promoting a strong Health and Safety culture.
  • Prepare regular project reports and presentations for key stakeholders and actively manage supplier and vendor performance to meet project quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Identify and assess project risks, including commercial, design, and schedule risks, and implement mitigation plans with escalation to management when required.
  • Collaborate with project teams and manage interfaces within the project to ensure accountability for integrated activities.
  • Coordinate activities with construction teams, installation teams, and equipment suppliers during equipment installation, including conducting effective work sessions.
  • Organize, manage, and follow up on FAT, SAT, and qualification execution and documentation, ensuring closure of deviations and compliance with system lifecycle documentation, including as-built drawings and O&M packages.
  • Participate in Mechanical Completion walkdowns, manage punch items, and support commissioning, qualification, and system startup activities.
  • Support planning and execution of sourcing strategies and manage technical and commercial supplier/vendor issues with escalation where required.
  • Manage potential scope changes, ensuring change requests are communicated to the project team, and lead complex problem-solving investigations when necessary.
  • Support the Project Manager in ensuring compliance with the project management process (CPDP) throughout the project lifecycle and obtain necessary certifications and approvals from customer representatives.
