Primary Responsibilities
 

Involves leading and coordinating activities within a manufacturing environment and ensures production and performance commitments are met. Trains, monitors and coaches team members to improve skill level and to adhere to policies and standards. Ensures Manufacturing Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance of the workforce. Emphasizes continuous improvement through implementation of best practices and lean practices.

  • Actively participate in and sustain a high level of Lean Management practices.
  • Plan and lead production workshop activities.
  • Manage risk management, incident investigations and preventive measures.
  • Assist the Supervisor in monitoring and resolving matters related to production operations.
  • Manage work order priorities and manpower schedules according to operational requirements and timelines.
  • Ensure departmental Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) targets are achieved.
  • Provide training, motivation, guidance and communication to team members to develop a competent, disciplined, safety- and quality-conscious team.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and upgrading of machine tools to meet organisational objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to optimise manufacturing processes and reduce queue times.
  • Initiate process improvement plans and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain team records and conduct team member performance appraisals and work goal meetings.
  • Lead the team with limited autonomy under the overall direction of the immediate Supervisor.
  • Establish employee objectives and carry out disciplinary actions and rewards as required.
  • Assist in driving the team to achieve on-time delivery targets.
  • Resolve routine queries and operational issues independently.
  • Review and monitor employee timeclock hours.
  • Spend approximately 75% of the time in the shop-floor environment
  • Work in an environment with potential shop-floor hazards, including high noise levels, heavy equipment and machinery, temperature extremes and shop traffic.
