Primary Responsibilities
|
| |
Involved in all training in welding matters and coordination of activities within the weld-shop environment and ensures production and performance commitments are met. Trains, monitors and coaches team members to improve skill level and to adhere to policies and standards. Ensures Weld shop Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performances of work force. Emphasizes continuous improvement through implementation of best practices and lean practices
- Actively participate in and sustain a high level of 5S practices.
- Create macro welding parameters and welding programs for all cladding machines in the shop.
- Assist the Welding Engineer (WE) in conducting Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) for new welders and Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) tests for new job materials.
- Take charge of Weld Shop tooling and other related equipment.
- Assist the Supervisor in monitoring and resolving matters related to Weld Shop operations.
- Ensure Weld Shop equipment is properly maintained.
- Ensure departmental quality and delivery targets are achieved.
- Provide training, motivation, guidance and communication to team members to develop a competent, disciplined, safe and quality-conscious team.
- Coordinate machine tool maintenance and upgrades to meet organisational objectives.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to optimise manufacturing processes and reduce queue times.
- Initiate improvement plans and cost-saving initiatives.
- Apply knowledge of Auto TIG and manual welding machines, shop mathematics, metal properties and welding procedures to produce quality parts.
- Create and improve process instructions for the Weld Shop.
- Assist in driving the team to achieve on-time delivery targets.
- Resolve routine queries and operational problems independently.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Execute and maintain simultaneous manufacturing activities across different value streams.
- Navigate data visualisation platforms and manufacturing systems to monitor real-time process performance and operational trends through metrics dashboards.
- Execute process interfaces with robotic and automation equipment within the value streams.
