Primary Responsibilities
|
| |
• Fire Safety Design Leadership: Act as the lead for all fire engineering aspects. Develop and specify the fire protection philosophy, design basis, and performance criteria for the FPU project in accordance with client requirements and international standards (e.g., NFPA, SOLAS, API, NORSOK).
• Fire Protection System Design & Review:
o Lead the detailed design and engineering of active fire protection systems, including firewater (pumps, ring mains, deluge, sprinklers), foam systems, and gaseous suppression (CO2, Novec 1230, inert gas).
o Review and approve detailed designs for passive fire protection (PFP) materials, specifications, and application drawings to ensure structural fire integrity is achieved.
• Fire & Explosion Analysis: Oversee and validate third-party Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA) and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies. Use findings to optimize layout, determine PFP requirements, and validate fire zone classifications.
• Fire Systems Calculations & Modelling: Perform and/or review complex hydraulic calculations for firewater systems, gas dispersion modelling, radiation and escalation analysis, and egress/evacuation modelling to validate design safety.
• Technical Specification & Vendor Management: Develop technical specifications for firefighting equipment. Lead the technical bid evaluation and vendor document review process for all fire safety-related packages.
• Layout & 3D Model Review: Conduct detailed 3D model reviews to ensure optimal placement of firefighting equipment (monitors, hose reels), detectors, and safe access/egress routes in compliance with safety spacing requirements.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all fire engineering deliverables comply with the project philosophy. Maintain and update fire-related documentation in the Hazard Register.
