Assistant Manager – Design & Project Management

About the Client

With a commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and exceptional guest experiences, the organisation continuously invests in upgrading and enhancing its facilities through large-scale development and asset enhancement initiatives.

As part of its ongoing expansion and improvement projects, the Facilities Development team is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Design & Project Management to support the delivery of high-quality design and construction projects across the property.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager / Associate Director / Director, you will play a key role in managing the design development, coordination, and execution of development and asset enhancement (A&A) projects. Working closely with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, you will ensure design intent, operational requirements, and project objectives are successfully translated into completed projects.

This role offers exposure to complex hospitality and mixed-use developments, providing an excellent opportunity for design professionals who enjoy balancing technical excellence with project delivery responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design Management & Coordination

  • Manage and review design documentation from concept through construction stages.
  • Ensure designs align with project objectives, operational requirements, brand standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including Architectural, Structural, MEP, and Interior Design consultants.
  • Identify design conflicts, technical issues, and buildability concerns, driving timely resolution.

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Support project programme development and milestone planning.
  • Track design deliverables, authority submissions, procurement activities, and construction interfaces.
  • Monitor progress and proactively identify project risks and delays.

Tender & Procurement Support

  • Assist in the preparation of tender packages and coordinated design documentation.
  • Review technical submissions and evaluate contractor proposals.
  • Participate in value engineering initiatives to optimise cost while maintaining quality and functionality.

Construction Administration

  • Review shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and site teams to resolve design-related issues.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure construction works comply with approved design intent.

Quality Assurance & Project Closeout

  • Support QA/QC inspections and testing activities.
  • Review as-built documentation and O&M manuals.
  • Facilitate project handover and technical briefings to operations teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Procurement, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure project outcomes meet operational, maintenance, and guest experience requirements.
  • Support vendor evaluation and performance reviews.

Document Control

  • Maintain project documentation within Aconex or equivalent document management systems.
  • Manage drawing submissions, revisions, approvals, and document tracking processes.

Requirements

Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in:
    • Design Coordination
    • Architectural or Interior Design Project Delivery
    • Construction or Development Projects
  • Experience in hospitality, integrated resorts, commercial developments, or A&A projects will be highly advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Design development processes from concept to construction
    • Technical drawing review and coordination
    • Material specifications and technical compliance
    • Construction methodologies and project delivery processes
  • Familiarity with authority submission requirements and regulatory compliance.

Systems & Software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Aconex or similar document management platforms.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM platforms is preferred.
